Enhancing the quality of life and health of those we serve
Legacy Connection
Youth Programs
Throughout the year, Legacy Connection staff work hard to provide resources to at-risk youth in the Tri-State region. The Tri-state region consists of Bullhead City, Fort Mohave, Mohave Valley, Laughlin, Needles, Topock/Golden Shores, Peach Springs, and Oatman. Through established programs, over 4,000 youth are provided various resources yearly.
Youth Programs
Backpack Buddies "Dress for Success"
Since 2004, the Backpack Buddies "Dress for Success" program
has been established as a pillar supporting youth with backpacks
filled with school supplies, shoes, socks, uniform shirts,
undergarments, and other necessities. The 2023 event served
1,679 youth. Additional kids are provided these resources
throughout the year through their schools. For 2024, the
Backpack Buddies program is going mobile in the new Connection
Express!
Hygiene Kits Program
Hygiene kits feature a reusable clear zippered pouch, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, body wash, and brush/comb to provide essentials to those who need them.
Coats for Kids Program
Coats for Kids was designed to provide youth with warm coats or school-logoed sweatshirts. The sweatshirts meet the dress code requirement at many schools in the area as they are logoed.
Teen Shopping Night
Kicked started from a grant from Kohl's Cares from the Heart;
the Teen Shopping Night was developed to provide High School
students with a $100 gift card to purchase needed items. In 2023,
students were able to shop at Ross Dress for Less.
Cap & Gown Closet
The Cap & Gown Closet provides graduating High School Seniors an opportunity to receive a brand-new Cap & Gown to wear at graduation for a low refundable deposit of $20! The Cap is theirs to keep as a memento of their success. We want every High School senior to celebrate graduation without facing financial burden.
Immediate Need Fund
Serving as gap funding for essentials needed by youth during the school year, the immediate need fund allows staff to purchase items requested by the school for individual youth. The fund allows staff to respond to requests for assistance for youth in need promptly.
